Is Bingo for the Ladies or the Guys?

Assumption was something I always guarded against when it came to making generalizations, and now I can safely say that the most recent bingo stats I came across had me mouthing the words, “Is that a fact?

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but I wonder if that’s entirely true. I’ve turned my love for bingo into a way of life; I now have a healthy following of avid bingo gamers on my blog and I’ve been able to rub shoulders with the who’s who of the gaming and business worlds.

The purpose of today’s blog post is twofold:

  1. To share with you things that you most certainly would not have known about the game you love (indeed I was taken aback by these facts and figures)
  2. To provide you with a useful set of facts, which may be used as tools to help you realize more from your bingo gaming action.

Number crunching time

I am going to pose 5 questions to you about the game of bingo – you decide if they are True or False (note: these figures are related to UK bingo sites)

  1. Over 57% of bingo players win over £101 a year playing bingo  (True/False)
  2. Almost 50% of all bingo players spend up to £50 a week playing bingo (True/False)
  3. Almost 40 % of  bingo players inform their significant others exactly how much they spend on  bingo gaming (True/False)
  4. Almost 70% of bingo players make use of chat rooms (True/False)
  5. Almost 83% of bingo players are male (True/False)

For those of you who have been following my blog posts, I realize that is a rather unconventional post, but I trust that you will find it absolutely enlightening – just like I did. Now, let’s get back to the 5 aforementioned questions, shall we?  At the end of every question is a pair of parenthesis like so (True/False). If you want to see the answers to these questions revealed in an instant, read this great survey: Bingo Hideout’s Online Bingo Survey Results

The answers to questions 1 through 4 are all true. The shocker is question 5:

the gender of bingo players

Most folks don’t realize that almost 83% of bingo players in the UK are the fairer sex. This naturally has astounding ramifications for the way in which bingo games are designed. It appears that in the UK at least only 17% of bingo players – from a random sampling of some 2,167 online bingo players – are male. This just goes to show that it’s the women who are leading the charge and the men who are on the back foot.

Exciting bingo developments ahead

These stats have very important marketing consequences. Two things immediately stand out there. Firstly, bingo gaming campaigns need to satisfy their target market – the ladies, and there is a fantastic opportunity to allow for the explosive spread of bingo to the male populace. This is literally going to prove the next evolution of bingo. As bingo designers find novel ways of attracting more males to bingo domains, while simultaneously growing and retaining the female player base, the game will enjoy an unprecedented boost among players.

The challenge has been posed; it’s up to us to make that a reality!
