Greetings folks, it’s Jeremy Stersky from your one-stop resource guide to everything bingo related. During the course of the many bingo blog posts on this site we’ve gone through a great many fun-filled ideas on how to play bingo, where to play bingo and most important why to play bingo. Today’s post takes a different perspective. Sit back, relax and enjoy the power of bingo!

Bingo may well be seen as a game that is used purely for entertainment purposes, and for most people that’s perfectly okay. While there are many folks who enjoy bingo for its community-style atmosphere there is a growing contingent of bigwigs who are using the power of bingo for an altogether different reason.
Bingo builds intra-company relationships
Recently I was invited to be a guest speaker at the launch of a corporate sponsorship drive in central London. The company’s Chief Operations Office asked me to come in and get everyone on board about a new promotional marketing campaign the company was about to launch. The human resources department had just finished a recruitment and selection drive and they were inducting the new employees. It was both an honor and a privilege for me to come in and use my social networking ideas to get everyone on board with the project.
The first thing I did, as I always tend to do, was talk about bingo. But I had to come at this from an exciting and interesting perspective. So in the spirit of team-building, I embarked on a pet project that turned out to be an overwhelming success. The first thing that we did was get the necessary resources in place. In this instance we gathered the group of some 35 employees in the meeting room. This was a rather large group, so it required some doing. Next up I had bingo cards printed with all manner of company information printed onto each of the squares in the bingo cards. This was the kicker – it had to be something that the employees could relate to; it had to increase collaboration, inspire them to learn more about the company and the project and it had to keep their attention. A no-brainer? No, this was a tough undertaking.
Building community spirit
Each employee was given a bingo card and told to complete each of the squares on the bingo cards. Questions included the following:
- What is the proposed objective of the marketing campaign
- Get 5 signatures in this bingo block from your division’s PR team
- When is your team leader’s birthday?
And so forth. The questions were designed as a way to increase cooperation, interaction and to have a good time. This was a way to get everyone on board to qualify for the bingo game that was about to begin. Note that the bingo cards were different and the bingo callouts that were to follow at the conclusion of the team building were drawn from a manual ‘jumble-box’ which contained all the questions.
Ready to start the bingo game
We had arranged several gifts like lunch vouchers for the cafeteria, credits for the snack shop, theatre tickets and even hampers with lots of chocolates. Once everyone had completed their 25 bingo squares (questions/answers) the game began in earnest. The prizes on offer were certainly nothing to scoff at and a fun day was had by one and all.
