Here’s something you don’t really get to see every day. And it’s not something that many folks would even want to see every day for that matter. It’s bingo with cows on the pastures! That’s right – you folks heard me loud and clear. We’re talking going out onto the fields and playing a game of rather unconventional bingo. This game does not really ascribe to the playing rules of either 75 ball bingo or even 90 ball bingo. Rather it’s what I’d like to call – and you can quote me on this one – the Bingo Drop & Win! For the greenhorns among us who are just a little unsure as what this particular terminology means – it’s like this. You see when you go to a farmers’ gathering, or a farm-style community gathering, you’re likely to encounter some of the strangest games you’ve NEVER HEARD OF. Take for instance my total and utter disbelief when I went to a gathering of the townsfolk several weeks ago – just before winter got really, really cold. I was listening intently to the locals talking about the community centre, the church and the local junior school. The issue however, as me, Jess and Adam were sitting there was simply – how can we raise the cash to fund these ventures?
Enter Cows, White Paint, Fields and Participants
I’ve been lucky enough to have seen and written about lots of different types of bingo games. I mean you can imagine the stuff I’ve seen in my day. Chicken Sh*t bingo is a wildly popular variant where chickens will run around in their cages and there’s a bingo-style mat with matching numbers placed beneath them. The number – which belongs to an audience/bar patron, which is hit with chicken droppings wins the bingo prizes instantly. This game is pretty popular in Texas and other southern states. However on a much bigger scale – you have the other extreme – the parachutist who lands on an open field filled with bingo numbers on paper plates. Folks who are in attendance will typically buy a plate and then have it placed onto the field. The parachutist then lands on the field and if he/she lands on your paper plate, you’re in the money. But we’re not talking about parachutists or chickens in this blog post. We’re talking about cows. Now you probably have a really good idea about how this game comes together.
Cows…. That’s Right – Cows!
We all know that these bovines are great at providing all manner of manure to the pastures. This is great for the grass and for spreading whatever it is that cows spread through their ‘land mines.’ The way that Bingo in the Pastures, with cows works is like this: You get 1 cow or several. Add to that a throng of revelers with deep pockets. Add to that a noble cause – like some sort of charity affair. And then strategically place your ‘purchased bingo card number – on a paper plate’ and keep your receipt. As soon as the cows have been let loose, you’ll be able to hope and pray that they (or it) will defecate on your plate. Should it happen – you will be awarded a mega-jackpot prize – to the tune of thousands of £s.
If you have ever played Bingo on the Pastures, then give me a shout. I’d love see the cows making merry while the sun shines. Good luck with Bingo on the Pastures with Cows!
